Rapunzel Stories Around the World: 3 Beloved Tales

This book has three different stories of Rapunzel in it. Each story is from a different country. The first story was from Germany. A man stole Rapunzel from a garden for his wife. When he was caught by the sorceress, he was told that he would have to give her his first child. The girl grew up in the tower and then a prince came and asked her to marry him. The sorceress threw Rapunzel into the woods and tricked the prince. Eventually, the prince found Rapunzel and they lived happily together. The second story is a Filipino tale. This story had magical horses, a girl and a tower. This story was very different from the other Rapunzel story. The two were still separated and then found each other again in the end though. The last story is from Italy. The story is a lot like the German one. There is an ogress that finds a girl stealing from her garden and says that she must repay by giving her her first born child. In this story, there is also a bulldog, lion, wolf and magical gallnuts. I really liked reading these stories. It was fun to find the ways that the stories were alike and different. I would like to read more stories from other countries like these. I think all kids would enjoy reading or listening to these stories.
