Queenie Quail Can’t Keep Up
Queenie Quail Can’t Keep Up is about a little quail named Queenie who has trouble keeping up with her family. Her brothers and sisters all walk in a line behind momma quail, but Queenie Quail is always stopping, and her parents, brothers, and sisters tell her to “hurry, hurry, hurry.” Queenie Quail is always stopping because there are so many things in nature that she has to stop and see.
I really liked reading Queenie Quail Can’t Keep Up. What I really love about this book is the illustrations. They are actually really nice and kind of look like pastels. I like Queenie Quail because she is sort of like me; I sometimes can’t keep up with my family because I like to stop and look at little things in nature, like rollie pollie bugs, flowers, and butterflies. I noticed that the illustrator drew Queenie Quail to have a blue feather on her head, so you can tell the difference between her and her brothers and sisters. I don’t know if I have ever seen a quail before; maybe I can see one at the zoo. I was able to read it all by myself, and I am in grade three. I recommend Queenie Quail Can’t Keep Up to little kids as a bedtime story.
