Property of the Rebel Librarian is an exciting book about June Harper’s journey against banned books. It all starts when June’s parents discover her book The Makings of a Witch; they immediately think it’s too scary and contact the principal and school librarian, from whom June had gotten the book. A few days after, June finds out that the school librarian was fired, and the school enacts a rule that states that all books will be monitored, and June soon sees many of her most favorite books leave the school library on the banned list.

With the help of some friends, June finds herself in a huge movement to fight for the freedom of books. I felt really passionate about this book and found myself often empathizing with June. I am thankful my parents don’t monitor my reading and let me have freedom of choice. I loved this book and finished it in like three days! I recommend this books for kids ten and up!
