Poor Unfortunate Soul: A Tale of the Sea Witch
This book is all about Ursula’s side of the story of The Little Mermaid. When we watch the movie The Little Mermaid, we watch Ariel’s side and see how good wins over evil. But a good question is, “Why is Ursula the way she is?” This book attempts to answer this question about Ursula’s true self. Obviously, Ursula is a main character in this story instead of Ariel. Other characters include Pflanze, Circe, and, of course, Flotsam and Jetsam. Pflanze is Ursula’s best friend. Circe is another best friend of Ursula’s. Flotsam and Jetsam are Ursula’s evil henchmen. Well, I LOVED Ariel’s side and how she got her voice taken away, especially when I saw the stage musical this summer. I didn’t like Ursula’s side, so it’s not my favorite book. Still, it was interesting to see another side to the story, even though I like Ariel the best. Readers who like seeing the same story told different ways will enjoy this book.
