Podkin One-Ear
Podkin One-Ear is an inspiring story that starts on a cold midwinter night when a storyteller comes to tell the story of Podkin One-Ear.
On Bramblemass eve, Podkin is lazing around as he usually does, playing with his baby brother when the warren alarm sounds and the iron-clad warriors, the Gorm, attack. These aren’t quite rabbits but creatures that turn into half-iron villains and terrorize bunny villages everywhere. When they attack, Podkin is able to escape with his siblings. One of his family members gives him the Starclaw, a magical dagger that then helps him on his journey. It all happens so quickly; he and his siblings walk for days in the snow, finding their way to Redwater, a friend’s warren, but they almost get captured by the Gorm because Redwater is already taken over by them. Finally, they find help from an older rabbit, Brigit, who is a witch and helps to defeat the Gorm.
I liked this book a lot because I learned that you don’t have to have amazing powers to do incredible things! This would be a great book to read at Christmas for kids seven and up!
