Plesiosaur Peril (Tales of Prehistoric Life)
This is a great book about a plesiosaur baby and it’s mother. The baby wanders off from its mother while exploring the ocean and a giant plesiosaur, called Liopleurodon, decides it wants to eat the baby plesiosaur for lunch. Liopleurodon chases the baby and she almost doesn’t get away. But the baby’s mom and the rest of her pod come to her rescue and she doesn’t get eaten. My favorite part of the story is when the baby plesiosaur is back with her mama. I was worried when she wandered away from her pod. This book taught me a lot about plesiosaurs. I learned that they lived together in pods and traveled together. I learned that they can’t breathe under water and have to swim to the surface to get air. The weirdest thing I learned was that they swallowed rocks to help them digest their food. I liked this book because I went to a museum one time and saw a skeleton of a plesiosaur. It was gigantic! I think all the kids I know will like this book.
