Pirates of the Silver Coast
This is the fifth book in the series about Dessa’s quest to find her twin brother Jared. It is a graphic novel. Dessa is traveling with two friends, Fisk and Topper, who are not human. They hire a ship to take them to the Island of Astaroth, the Dark Island, where they think Jared is being held. At sea, a pirate ship catches up to them and the story ends with the three friends being taken away by the pirate king. Meanwhile, Captain Drake, who is trying to catch Dessa, visits a fortune teller who seems to give him some information.
I liked this book. It was really good. I liked the pictures, the writing, how the story develops. I liked all of the characters, including Dessa. Dessa is fun, smart, strong, energetic and caring for her brother. I hadn’t read the other books in the series before reading this one, but I’m going to find them and read them. This book would be good for kids ages 7 to 10. The book would be good for boys because of the pirates and the Captain. The book would be good for girls because the hero is a girl.
