Pig Has a Plan
Pig Has a Plan is the shortest book I’ve ever seen! It is an early-reader for kindergarten or first grade kids. Almost every sentence (there are only twelve in the whole book) says an animal wants to do something (a three-letter action word). A couple of the words I did not understand at first, like “gab” for talk and “bop” for dance. Most of the animal names and actions are easy to guess from the pictures on the page. It has big, bright-colored cartoon illustrations to help the reader guess what the words say.
Pig’s plan is how to take a nap when the other animals on the farm are making noise. Pig puts his face in the mud and breathes through a straw so he can nap. At the end, the other animals finish making Pig’s birthday party. In the very last picture, Pig is covered with mud, but he feels happy. Pig is my favorite character because he likes to sleep! Kids who like really short books that are easy to read will like this one.
