Pieces and Players
Thirteen-year-olds Tommy, Zummy, Petra, Calder, and Early have all done detective work in the past, so when some art from the local museum is stolen, they decide to get on the case. Mrs. Sharpe, who invited them into the mystery, and Miss Hussey, their old teacher from sixth grade, also help. Their investigation leads them to discover a ghost at the museum, and the ghost helps them discover a place where the paintings might be.
It was fun to read about how they deduced where everything was, and how everything was possible to them, because everything has to be possible to be a good detective. It was nice to see how the characters developed their relationships with each other, and they made a really good team. The book wasn’t very fast; there were a lot of stalls that kept you from knowing what would happen. You thought you had it figured out, but then you realized you actually might not. So that was fun, because it always kept you guessing. It will be really fun to read more of these books!
