Pie in the Sky

Pie in the Sky by Remy Lai is a story about Jingwen and Yanghoa moving to Australia. Jingwen and Yanghao’s father dies from a car crash ten days before his birthday. Jingwen’s family was going to make a pie shop called Pie in the Sky before the crash. Jingwen and Yanghao spoke a different language in his old town. Jingwen has trouble with English and his friends are always calling him slow. Jingwen believes that if he makes all of the pie in the sky cakes everything will be all right. But he has to get in some major trouble to do it.

The beginning of the book was a little slow. I liked when Jingwen made all of the cakes. The end was the best. It was so sweet. The illustrations were great, I love the detail. I think ages eight through thirteen should read this book. This book would make a good series.

I would recommend this book because I really got to know the characters. Read this heartwarming funny story.
