Phoebe and Her Unicorn: A Heavenly Nostrils Chronicle
This book is a series of comic strips about a little girl named Phoebe who is in the 4th grade. One day she is at a pond, skipping stones, and ends up hitting a unicorn in the face. The unicorn’s name is Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, a female unicorn. When you find a unicorn, you get a wish. Phoebe wishes that the unicorn can be her friend. With that begins a series of every day adventures involving the two of them. Phoebe rides Marigold around, they have sleepovers, go to birthday parties, and they just hang out.
I did not like this book very much. The pictures are not that detailed but I guess that’s how comic strips are usually drawn. I was also hoping for a story rather than a series of comic strips. I did like the activities in the back like how to draw Marigold and Phoebe, making puppets, unicorn snack mix, and drawing your own comic strips. This book would be good for readers ages 6 and up. This book would be not that interesting for kids under 6.
