Paddington: The Junior Novel
I liked this book about a little bear named Paddington, who came from Peru to London. Paddington is a brown bear with a shapeless hat. Other characters are Jonathan, Judy, and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brown. They all like Paddington, and so does Mrs. Bird, the housekeeper. But Millicent wants to hurt Paddington! I thought it was good when the Brown family came to his rescue. It is special that the bear is named after a train station: “She often made up names for the characters in the books she illustrated, but nothing she could think of suited the bear. It was only when she saw the sign behind him that it came to her.” I laughed at this part in the book: “Put your foot down, Henry!” My favorite part is when they were making orange marmalade. Yum! Kids who like bears and stories about friendship will enjoy this book. There are no illustrations, but in the middle of this book there are pictures from the movie. I want to go see the movie about Paddington!
