Out of Bounds

We rated this book:

I wanted to love this book because I love the series Kicks and soccer, but I found myself losing interest. I felt like it described the soccer games in too much detail, and the dialogue was way too melodramatic and unrealistic for me.

The main character, Makena, struggles with a new girl on the team, Skylar. Makena first tries to impress Skylar because she thinks Skylar is cool, but she figures out that Syklar is really mean and doesn’t follow the soccer sister code. The characters weren’t believable. For instance, I can’t imagine anyone would pull a fire alarm just to see old people run!

It’s possible I would have liked this book more a couple of years ago when I was six and loved the Rainbow Magic series, but I can’t imagine it appealing to anyone my age.
