Otter in Space
This book is about an otter who wants to go to space. It is a funny story because the creative otter makes different space suits. I know that you need a space suit with oxygen to go to space since there is no oxygen in space. The author, Sam Garton, uses personification. In the book, the Otter Keeper leaves a list of rules that the Otter should not do and the Otter chooses something that would not break the list of rules. The pictures are detailed and colorful and little children will enjoy them. There is a stuffed giraffe wearing huge funny-looking headphones on the cover. The title of the book has a comet going around the letter “O.” The words of the title are embossed and I like to feel the letters with my finger. I think kids 6 years of age and under would like to feel these letters, too. Children who are 3 and up and who like to play dress-up or pretend will have fun with this book. Science teachers would like this book, too!
