One Small Thing

The moment I realized that Erin Watt would be writing another standalone contemporary novel, I immediately started a countdown. Forbidden love? Yes! Forbidden love is the best type of romance trope out there. One thing I love about Watt’s stories is that they’re so realistic, and the romance aspect of it always leaves me tingly. Beth is the colossal good girl, until the one day she’s had enough. The night she meets Chase is the night that her world gets turned upside down. But the town bad boy is all wrong for Beth—resulting in them becoming secret friends. The whole town literally hates Chase except Beth. She tries so hard to stick up for him in the only way she knows how. There were times when I was seriously mad about everything that happened involving Beth’s family and so-called friends. It’s one reason I can’t bring myself to give this a solid five stars—because I didn’t feel like anything was truly resolved between them. The author just tells us how it all became happily-ever-after in the end. I wanted more and felt the ending was too rushed. That all aside, the story still resonates with my very being. I felt and cared very much for the two main characters. If you’re an Erin Watt fan, I don’t think you will be disappointed!
