One Good Deed (Kar-Ben Favorites)
There was a boy named Jake, who was climbing up his mulberry tree to pick some mulberries, when he saw a neighbor who couldn’t climb trees. So, he decided to give her the basket of mulberries he had picked. That led to all sorts of other good things. The neighbor that got the basket of mulberries made pies, and gave one to her neighbor. He liked it, but while he was eating his pie, he saw some boys outside whose ball landed on top of his garage, so he got it down for them. Then, the boys saw their neighbor with crutches, and knew he couldn’t rake his yard, so they did it for him. Another boy, whose computer was broken, helped. So then, the neighbor on crutches went over an fixed the computer. The mother of that person saw a little girl whose bike was rusty, so she gave her son’s old bike to the girl. Then, the little girl went riding and smiling to everyone in the neighborhood, and everyone smiled back.
I like this pictures in this book, because they are nice and the people look friendly. I like the story, because it shows you that many good things can happen by just doing one good thing. Everyone liked their neighborhood better when everyone was nice to each other. My favorite part was when the man fixed the boy’s computer. This book makes you think about things you can do to help other people too.
