Everyone thinks Gillian’s father, a famous scientist, has gone crazy. Gillian lives in a small, out-of-the-way town where she feels like nothing ever happens. But she realizes she’s wrong when she discovers a secret tunnel that leads to a platform beneath the earth’s surface. As she tries to find a way back to the surface, she is also being chased by people who want to keep this secret place secret. Gillian wants to find out why. But in order to find out, she must make her way through flooded hallways and dangerous rooms, and keep her friends safe in the process. She must also search for a mysterious man, Dr. Underberg, who disappeared many years ago. She hopes he can help her resolve her questions and prove her father’s research.

This book was exciting and dangerous all at once. It seemed like the danger never ended. Gillian is persuasive yet stubborn. My favorite parts of this book were when the friends were in trouble but they found ways to deal with it. If you want to read a thrilling and heart-pounding book, this one’s for you!
