Olaf Hajek’s Fantastic Fruits
Olaf Hajek’s Fantastic Fruits is a tall book about lots of different kinds of fruits. The fruits are described by how they look, feel, and taste, their history through the years, and maybe a short story about the fruit, too. Also, where they grow and if they are called any other names besides the one in the book (i.e., a blueberry can also be called a mulberry or tickberry). Each of the fruits has a picture on the other side that looks like a painting that includes the fruit in silly ways.
There are twenty-five fruits in the book, so you will probably find one of your favorites. I have a lot of favorites, but there are lots of other fruits that I didn’t know about, too. I thought the book would be a story, so I didn’t enjoy it as much with it just having information about the fruits, but the pictures are pretty to look at, even if they are interesting. I think that older kids might find the book more interesting than I did, but it’ll be a good book to have if I wonder about fruit or want a fun fact to tell others.
