Okoye to the People: A Black Panther Novel
Okoye to the People: A Black Panther Novel is the backstory of Okoye, the leader of the army of Wakanda. Before Okoye was the leader of the Dora Milaje, she was struggling to fit in with others. When she finds out about her first mission and a trip out of Wakanda, she is ecstatic. When Okoye makes it to New York, she realizes that her status as a soldier means nothing to New Yorkers.
As her expectations of the world outside of Wakanda crumble, she discovers that there is a lot more to life. Caught between fulfilling her mission for her country and helping the people of Brownsville, New York, Okoye must make a decision: will she choose to keep her status and do her duty or will she choose her heart?
Okoye to the People: A Black Panther Novel is great for teens and young adults ages fifteen and up. I did not enjoy the book as much as I enjoy others from the series. I believe that this book was a little too grown-up for me, but I think that other people will enjoy it.
