Not So Normal Norbert
Norbert lives in a place where being funny is not allowed–everyone must be boring all of the time. They are not allowed to show any emotion. After being caught doing a funny impression of the Loving Leader, Norbert is arrested and sent to Astronuts Camp. Astronuts Camp is where people who don’t follow the “boring” rule are sent; they are considered different and dangerous by the juries. Norbert is shocked when he gets to Astronuts Camp at how differently people are behaving than he is used to. It takes Norbert a while to get used to living with all of the different people. Maybe Astronuts Camp and the people who live there aren’t so different and bad–maybe he has found a place where he can fit in.
This is a great story about how being different isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Norbert learns that he doesn’t have to hide all of this emotions and he can be himself. It takes Norbert a long time to realize that he should be himself and not hide behind the mask like everyone else.
