Nightbird
Nightbird is a story of a girl who has an irregular family. Teresa Jane, nicknamed Twig, lives with her mom and her brother, James. Many generations earlier, the boys in her family had been cursed by a witch and were all born with wings. James has the wings from the curse. When new neighbors, relatives of the witch, move in next to Twig’s family, Twig befriends one of their daughters, Julia. Also, James falls in love with Julia’s older sister, Agate. Twig and Julia spend the summer trying to break the curse on James so James can be normal.
I enjoyed the pace of the story. It was slower paced with more elaboration to dig deeper into the story and characters. My favorite part is when they figure out what happened to the witch and why Twig’s family was cursed because it was an intriguing short story inside the book. If a friend asked me about this book, I would tell them that I loved it and it would be a good book to read. I would want to read other books also by this author.
