Nian, The Chinese New Year Dragon
Mei was a girl who hates springtime. That’s because the fierce dragon, Nian, would wake up from his enchanted nap and feel hungry. Mei is quested to defeat the mighty Nian because she was born in the year of the golden dragon. But she has to do it in only fifteen days! Mei finds ways to make the dragon retreat, but the dragon always comes back to the village! Will Mei defeat Nian in time? Or will Nian be free forever?
This book is very clever, especially Mei. Mei is my favorite character in this book because she’s the brave heroine and the main character of this story. I also like how Mei is so determined and brave. It’s a great Asian book about dragons and Chinese New Year. I also like the illustrations because the colors are very interesting and unique. Except for the cow drawing. Nian is perfect for Chinese New Year and for anyone to read. I like how the story is based on the Chinese New Year legend. But above all, this book is great! I recommend this book to anyone who likes warrior legends.
