News from Me, Lucy McGee
News From Me, Lucy McGee is a funny book about a nine-year-old girl who is confused over true and false friendships. One recess, Lucy sees one of her old friends from first grade, Scarlet. She asks Lucy if she would like to join her for a craft club. When Lucy says yes, she remembers that she is also supposed to go to a songwriting club that her Dad signed her up for at the same time!
So when it’s time to go to the song club, she goes to Scarlet’s club instead. There, Lucy helps Scarlet but ends up doing all the work, from setting up the yard to serving refreshments.
I enjoyed this book because it teaches a great lesson in friendship. It shows that when someone doesn’t treat you right, you can’t do whatever they want just to be their friend. The songs throughout the book were also a great addition. I also thought the drawings were really cute.
I would recommend this books to kids eight and up.
