Wow, this book has so much information about insects! Everything Insects is all about lots of different kinds of insects. I always enjoy books from National Geographic Kids, so I was excited to get this book. The characters are the insects and Dino, who is an entomologist, which means he studies insects. I especially liked the “Explorer’s Corner” boxes throughout the book when Dino would share ideas on how insects are important in our world. There are lots of great pictures of bugs in this book. I was surprised to learn the fact that a flea can jump ten times its height! I laughed when I saw the conehead mantis with its head turned to the side. I called it a “person-like mantis”! Anyone who is interested in learning more about insects is going to love this book. Here is a puzzle: “Not all insects are bugs. But all bugs are insects.” I learned that a “true bug” has a special kind of mouth, like a cicada or aphid. There are sections about insect families, life cycles, foes, and fun. I liked seeing the maps that show how insects migrate, too!
