My Whirling Twirling Motor
Charlie sometimes feels a little wound up, like a motor is running inside him. Sometimes Charlie feels like he can’t calm down or follow his parent’s directions because his motor is whirling and twirling. Charlie doesn’t want to get in trouble because he is unable to control his motor. But Charlie’s mom reassures him there is so much he can do with his very busy motor, and he will be able to accomplish more each day.
This is a wonderful tale of how a small boy feels with his hyperactivity and behavior and focuses on the positives of what he can do versus what he feels is he always doing wrong. This would be a great book for families with children who have problems with hyperactivity or managing their behavior. This book would also be great to use in the classroom to help the class to understand why a child may act out or to help the child who is acting out. The back of the book has a note to caregivers on how to focus on the positive aspects of the child’s behavior and to help them grow and notice when they feel they can not control their whirling, twirling motor.
