My Rules for Being a Pretty Princess
This book is about a girl who really, really, really wants to be a princess. Then, a true princess comes and she teaches her the rules. They aren’t as fun as you’d think they would be. The girl doesn’t like the way a princess dances or how she has to eat daintily at delicious tea parties. The dress is too tight, she doesn’t like hair spray, and the hairdo is boring. She most certainly doesn’t like the prince.
This book makes me laugh. I like when she said, “But I don’t look perfect, I look a bit bor-” She thinks she looks boring, while the real princess thinks she looks just splendid. This is because that’s exactly how the real princess looks. The girl decides that if this is how a princess acts, then being a princess is not for her. I also like the part at the end of the book where she crosses out the real rules and makes her own. In hers, there is no waiting for a handsome prince. Her rules are much more fun.
