My Heart

My Heart is a poetic book about how you can decide what your heart would be. You can decide if you want your heart to be happy or sad or mad. You can decide if it’s open or closed like a window. It is up to you. It made me think of what my heart would be. I like that the story is poetic. It suits the book very well. Some of the heart stuff, I don’t really understand it, but I had fun listening to the story. I really like the illustrations where they have hearts on every page. I had a lot of fun looking at the drawings and finding the hearts on each page. Some of it was very creative like the slide and the mother’s hair (that one was hard to find)! My favorite line in the story is, “My heart is a slide” because you can have fun sliding down or you can be scared but brave enough to go up and down again. Even though I like the illustrations, I think the drawings need more colors. I prefer more colorful art because black and white colors are very melancholy. I recommend this book to anyone who likes poetry and books that make you think.
