In Mr. Putter and Tabby Smell the Roses, Mr. Putter decides to take Mrs. Teaberry on a very special trip to the Conservatory for her birthday. A conservatory is a place people can go to see and learn about many different trees and flowers. Zeke is well-behaved because Mr. Putter tells him he will get a surprise if he behaves well. But, when Zeke sees a banana tree, he cannot stop himself from jumping up and grabbing a bunch of bananas from the tree! Bananas are Zeke’s favorite treat! Then, Tabby jumps in a lemon tree, spilling lemons onto everyone. Since the Conservatory trip is such a disaster, Mr. Putter takes Mrs. Teaberry out for strawberry cake instead. Zeke behaves and doesn’t eat the balloons! It turns out to be a nice celebration for Mrs. Teaberry’s birthday, after all!

I love Mr. Putter and Tabby books! I like that Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry do everything together, like celebrate the holidays and special occasions with each other. I also like that Mrs. Teaberry’s good dog, Zeke, does everything the hard way! For example, it’s funny when Zeke eats the book and pops the balloons.
