This book is really fun! It shows all things that happen when the sun goes down. Not everyone goes to sleep; actually several things wake up just then. I never thought of it! It’s like a whole city of night-only things.
First comes Mr. Moon, who wakes up just in time to take the place of the sun. His job is to make sure everything goes right in the middle of the night. The stars, the sheep, the cows, and the clouds all need supervision.
Then the fireflies and the crickets arrive with the raccoons–mama raccoon prepares breakfast before baby raccoons go to raccoon school. Then it’s the turn of the alley cats and the night train. When a boy asks Mr. Moon for help because he can’t sleep, Mr. Moon tells him to put his head on the pillow and dream big.
At the end of such a long night, Mr. Moon is tired and goes to sleep as the sun wakes up and says goodbye to him.
