Mr. King’s Machine

Mr. King hates caterpillars. He doesn’t like them because they eat plants, especially flowers, and Mr. King likes flowers. So one day he makes a caterpillar-catching machine. It works really well, but it spat off smoke and it trampled over flowers. His friends chased him until he stopped, and they started coughing because of the smoke. They told him that caterpillars turn into butterflies and butterflies help plants when they take nectar, they help them grow. So then Mr. King made his machine into a flower machine – a flower fan.

This book is really nice because Mr. King learns to get along and have fun without having to catch the caterpillars. I like how Mr. King and his friends have fun together with the caterpillars and butterflies and flowers. I really like the pictures in this book because I like the animals and Mr. King’s machine is really funny. Mr. King learns a good lesson and he is really clever when he makes his smoky caterpillar-catching machine into a flower fan to plant flowers everywhere when people blow on it.
