Misty Mole Gets New Glasses (Misty Mole, 1)
Misty Mole Gets New Glasses is the story of knowing when you might need glasses and learning to be okay if you aren’t already. Misty the Mole is active and likes to do things. She enjoys painting, playing, and learning. Occasionally she makes mistakes, like tripping over something while running, not putting detail in her pictures, and not protecting herself from paper airplanes thrown at her in the classroom. She doesn’t understand why people say things about it – it’s normal, right? An eye test tells her that she needs glasses, and afterward, she is happy that she can see things as they are supposed to be seen!
Misty didn’t know anything was wrong until someone told her, which can and probably does happen a lot. The ending made me happy for her because she can now be even happier by seeing details and being safer. So far I have not needed glasses, but because both my parents had them, I am waiting for when it will probably be my turn. This story shows me that it won’t be any problem when/if this happens for me and I’ll be happier with them at that point because it will mean I can’t see as good without them.
