Missing Mike
Missing Mike is about Cara, an 11-year-old girl who lives in Pine Grove with her dog Mike. When Cara and her family must evacuate their home because of a forest fire, they accidentally leave Mike behind. When Cara and her family get to the city, they live with the Baines family and their foster daughter, Jewel. Cara can’t think of anything else, she’s imagining what is happening to Mike, all alone in the forest. Jewel really wants to help Cara find her missing Mike. With Jewel’s help, will the family be able to find Mike?
I LOVED reading Missing Mike. I liked how the story was about how she had to evacuate. I have known families who have had to evacuate from hurricanes and forest fires. Missing Mike is a good book for kids wondering how it would feel like to evacuate. One thing I really liked about this book, is sometimes Cara says a word and then defines it. I would love if Missing Mike were turned into a movie. I enjoyed the shorter chapters, it made me feel like I’m reading more. I would recommend this book for kids ages 9 and up.
