Meet Woof and Quack
Meet Woof and Quack is a good story about a dog and a duck who are friends. The book is interesting even if you can’t read yet because the pictures are so silly. Quack, the duck, invites Woof, the dog, to play fetch, but the dog does not like to fetch! It turns out that Quack loves to fetch, so Woof throws and Quack retrieves. Woof throws a ball, a banana, and “a lovely cake.” The duck acts like a dog. That is silly, and even babies know that you don’t play fetch with bananas or layer cakes!
The characters look friendly, and they are drawn with funny expressions. I think the artist had a lot of fun drawing the characters. When Woof throws the cake, it flies through the air before it smashes all over the ground. Then Woof and Quack have very sad faces until they realize that they can eat the smashed cake off the ground. They are covered with icing by the end! My favorite part of this book is the duck acting like a dog by playing fetch. This is a good book for beginning readers who like short, silly stories.
