Me and Sam-Sam Handle the Apocalypse
When Jesse sees her father get taken to jail for stealing the library fund money, she refuses to let it go. She is going to find the real thief. Unfortunately, that isn’t the only thing she has to deal with. Jerkface and the cockroaches (her name for the bullies at school) are getting meaner. Sam-Sam’s dog training is not going well. And let’s not forget the apocalypse, whatever that may be. She’s in for a busy week.
I LOVED this book. It was full of really interesting characters and humor. Jesse is an amazing, relatable person with whom I wish I was friends. This is the first book I’ve read where the main character is autistic. Jesse sees the world in a very unique way.
There are two things you may not like about this book. One, they do say a couple of bad words. Two, one of the kids’ fathers is a gambler, which pulls that family into financial trouble. But seriously, don’t skip this book because of these things. I adore this funny mystery story, and I will continue to bother you about it until you buy it. So do yourself a favor and read it–now!
