Max and the Midknights
Max and the Midknights is a hilarious book about Max, who is a troubadour and wants to be a knight. The thing is, Max is a girl. And girls aren’t even allowed to do most jobs! Max has made friends to make a band of knights! But a very cruel king named Gastley is looking for Max’s Uncle Budrick. So Max and the Midknights set off for a journey at dawn’s first light to stop the king from killing Budrick. Will the Midknights do it?
I really like the book because it’s funny and its main character is so brave. Max is a very adventurous character, and Simon, Millie, and Kevyn make a great band of knights with her! The funniest part of the book is about how Mumblin, who is a wizard, turns Uncle Budrick into a goose! The book’s illustrations look just like Lincoln Peirce’s drawings from the Big Nate series! My two favorite characters are Max and Millie. I love that Max and Millie are brave girls! I love reading stories with brave or smart girls in the stories because so often the brave main character is a boy. I recommend this book to anyone who loves graphic novels or funny stories or a lead character who is a girl or brave knights.
