Mary Poppins is a wonderful story, shortened into a picture book. This book tells the story of the magical nanny, who arrives in the night by an umbrella and takes the children Jane, Michael and the twins on many adventures. Some of her whimsical adventures are: going to the zoo at night and hanging stars in the sky using a ladder.
This picture book has beautiful illustrations. I can see the expressions of the characters and Mary Poppins “look[s] as neat as a pin,” with her heeled boots and lacy apron.
I like the technique the illustrator uses to create artistic pictures; they are perfect for the story and help the reader ease into the world of Mary Poppins.
This version is wonderful; it recaptures the whimsical and fun story of Mary Poppins, everyone’s favorite Nanny. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite stories to read. I couldn’t wait to read this tale as a picture book version. I’m eager to share it with my younger sisters; they will thoroughly enjoy it. I recommend it to all ages; it would work perfectly as a read aloud!
