Once upon a time there were some monkeys, and the zookeeper put them in a cage by the picnic area. She didn’t know how much trouble that would cause! The trouble was, that the monkeys saw the children playing outside, and they decided to use good manners just like the children did. The mother monkey did not like it when the little monkeys used good manners—she said that manners are not for little monkeys! But the monkeys wanted to use good manners, like taking turns and not screeching and tidying up their cage. Finally, one day there were some very rude children who came. The zookeeper saw them and said she had made a terrible mistake!

This story is so funny at the end where it says “almost everyone agreed” that the rude children were supposed to be in the cage and the nice monkeys were supposed to be out. The pictures are really funny and silly, and this book teaches you how to have good manners in a funny story and in a funny way. It is telling you that children who don’t use nice manners are like little monkeys!
