Magic in the City
Imagine if you had a camera that put you in the picture (taking you anywhere in the world), a watch that stopped time, and a flying carpet? That’s what happens to three cousins in Magic in the City, and it’s a lot of fun to go along on their adventure. This beginning chapter book will appeal to young readers because the chapters are short and full of action. There are only a few black and white pictures.
One of the characters, Jake, is really stressed out because his family is moving to a different country. I can relate to that because my family is thinking about moving also, and I’ll miss my friends, too. Jake’s brother helps him with that problem, but I won’t tell you how! So you’ll have to read the book!
I think this would make a great series because I want to know more about the characters’ lives and the adventures they could have together. Minus the magic items, this book is very believable, and the way the characters talk to one another is realistic. It didn’t give me very strong emotions, but I liked reading it and enjoyed the story, and I think you will, too!
