Description
Lydia Loves Bugs is about the many colorful, unique, and interesting bugs out in the wild that are all for Lydia’s catching. She’s just a young girl who loves bugs, and she has a mission to catch as many different kinds as possible for show-and-tell at school the next day. By catching a variety and showing them off, she can convince her classmates to love them too!
Lydia Loves Bugs isn’t exactly accurate for me (as my name is Lydia, but I don’t love bugs, I love cats); however, as a fictional story, it works well for younger readers, as it describes many types of bugs (shiny, singing, silent, stinky, big, small, squiggly, etc.) but doesn’t go into too much (or any) details about them. Readers will learn about the person who studies bugs and how it is okay for people to feel differently about them (not everyone has to like them). The illustrations are colorful and pleasing to look at throughout the book.
