Lug is a caveperson kid. He is supposed to catch a macrauchenia (a llama from before cave people times). Bam! He is butted by a llama. He gets kicked out of the clan with his friend Stony. Bugeyes and Bonehead punch themselves in the faces, because Stony’s frog is leaping on their heads. (That’s my favorite part.) They meet Big Mumma next. Guess what Big Mumma is. Grunt-grunt. It’s a wild boar. It belongs to the Boar Riders, another clan. They think that Lug and Stony are spies for the big competition coming up for the slightly shiny stone. Lug has noticed trees are losing leaves, the weather is getting colder, the animals are wooly. He meets Smilus, a saber-toothed tiger. It wants to take over their land. The clansmen don’t really believe the kids. Will the saber-toothed tigers destroy the city? Read the book to find out. I like the ending. (We’re not extinct, so that’s good.) I like the pictures of the wooly mammoth. My favorite character is Wooly. I wouldn’t like to live there. The clans are too harsh. Just because someone doesn’t catch a macrauchenia, they are out of the clan. People who like funny will like this book.
