Loud Awake and Lost
On Valentine’s Day, eight months ago, an accident changed Ember’s life. Now Ember is home for the first time but she can’t help wondering about the six weeks before the accident. She can’t remember any of it. Who had she been? After her breakup and a fallout with her best friend, they say she started hanging out with a different crowd. They also say that she was with some guy named Anthony when the accident happened. Who was Anthony Travolo? And why had he been with her during the accident? While she is looking for clues to who Anthony had been, Ember meets Kai, a mysterious artist.
Ember had to deal with the guilt of Anthony’s death, tension from her best friend, the stress of recovering her lost memories, and accepting her old choices. Her friends try to help her, but she’s the only one who can deal with it—to accept what happened and let it go. I like that after Ember starts to remember Anthony, she wants to apologize to his family, even though she doesn’t remember how she met him.
