Lost Covenant: A Widdershins Adventure
Lost Covenant is book 3 in the Widdershins Adventure by author Ari Marmell, and ended in a way as to possibly have another book added to the series. Widdershins, Shins, a teenage girl with her own god, Olgun, appears to have some emotional issues and it often felt like Shins was babysitting. As the leading character, I often felt she was lacking in the streets smarts that would apparently be needed in a world such as hers to avoid getting in trouble or even killed, such as her snarky attitude and the way she often talks to others with disregard for authority. This made her difficult to relate to at times.
I really wanted to like this book more as it had a hint of Assassin’s Creed meets Ranger’s Apprentice vibe to it, but with a female lead. Possibly it is a series that you need to read all the prior books in order to enjoy this one. I hope this is the case. For now, I would recommend just borrowing it from the library, and starting with the first book as it might have a better outcome and readability than as a standalone.
