Lonely Planet First Words – French

Lonely Planet: First Words French is a good starter book if you want to learn some French. It is a thick book, with one picture per page, with the English and French word, as well as how to pronounce it, on the opposite page. There are one hundred French words to learn. They are basic words that you would use everyday, like ice cream, car, house, and cheese.

I really wanted to review Lonely Planet: First Words French because I have been dying to learn French. I have been saving up for a trip to Paris, France, and I need to know French before I go. This is a good beginner’s book with only words, but I am going to need a lot more help and practice to speak better French. The illustrations are simple but colorful. I am glad it has the pronunciation for each word, since I am not always sure how to say a word. My mom and dad speak French with each other, and, with the help of this book, I will be able to understand some of the words they are saying.
