Little Red’s Riding ‘Hood
Little Red’s Riding ‘Hood is the classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood, but with a car spin. Little Red is a scooter who has to take goodies to Granny Putt-Putt. Granny is feeling run-down: “her exhaust pipe’s exhausted, and her wiper fluid is wiped out.” Along the way, Little Red runs into Tank, who wants the basket of goodies. Tank beats Little Red to Granny’s house, where he eats her and dresses up like Granny. Tank tries to trick Little Red, but is Little Red is too smart for Tank, or will he end up as Tank’s next dinner?
I really, really liked that this story has a car twist. It was so funny how the author was able to relate things from the original story to cars. Little Red tells Tank, “why, Granny, what big wheels you have…what big headlights you have…what a big grille you have.” The illustrations are bright, colorful, and I like how Tank’s paint job looks like he has fur. I think other kids will like this book, especially kids who like cars.
