Little Mole, Please Open the Door!
Ellie, age seven, helped me review the children’s book Little Mole, Please Open the Door!. Ellie said, “I liked this book because there were so many animals in it. I liked that the more you read, the more animals kept appearing. I thought it was funny that there was a little mole, and more animals kept coming into his house. He was really nice and tucked them all in, and then more animals would come! When almost all the animals were tucked in, then a wolf came into mole’s house, and they caught him together. Then they fed him and everyone a delicious soup. I liked the pictures because there were lots of different animals, and they were fun to look at.” Ellie was able to follow along with the book easily and could tell that with each new knock on the door, mole would always answer and let whoever it was in the entrance into his house, even the big bad wolf. Mole was accommodating to his friends, and they all worked together for the safety and well-being of them all.
