Letting Go is a book written by Christine Fonseca. It is a “girl’s guide to breaking FREE of stress and anxiety.” This book gives girls and young women strategies for dealing with their stress. While I am writing this book review, there already is a stressful moment between me and my mind. My mind is saying, “You can’t. Go play with your brother. Synergize with him. Don’t do your book review.” My mind is in one of the cons featured in this book—the “Negative Label” con. In this book, readers learn to recognize patterns. The book includes lots of ways to deal with your anxiety, such as recognizing “invisible monsters” and “riding the wave of panic.” I like that there are also parts of the book that focus on the positive, with activities like “Spot the Strength” and “Self-compassion practices.” This book has many worksheet pages where the reader can write down ideas, so it’s really like an activity book. I think this is a great choice for any girls and young women who want to work on managing anxiety.
