Just Like Us! Birds

This is a bird fact book with so much amazing stuff. On my favorite page, the male arctic tern uses a fish for a wedding ring because he gives it to the female, and they are mated for life. You wouldn’t think birds would do all these amazing things. Some parents teach their little ones, just like us. The Heron fishes using bread and insects by sticking them in the water. When the fish come to see what’s going on, he stabs them with his long, sharp beak.

Even though it’s a fact book, it seems like a story because of the pictures. Sometimes there are photos of the real birds. But also there are drawings done in a cute way. For example, a bird is wearing an artist’s cap and holding a paint brush on the page about birds decorating their homes. On another page about birds cleaning their nests, the drawings show diapers on a clothesline. It’s funny that they do it this way. This book is good for all kids because it’s hilarious, and there are lots of amazing things you wouldn’t think birds would do.
