Jacqueline and the Beanstalk: A Tale of Facing Giant Fears
Jacqueline is a princess. The royal knights are overly protective. Jacqueline doesn’t like it. She wants to do fun stuff, like roasting marshmallows and dancing. She sneaks out and climbs up a giant beanstalk. She finds a giant who is scared of humans. Will Jacqueline help the giant face his fears? Read the book to find out.
There is a “Note to Parents and Caregivers” at the back of the book. It gives tips on how to help kids face their fears. The pictures are nice. My favorite is the one where Jacqueline meets the giant. It was funny. I think kids will like the pictures. The illustrator is good at drawing expressions. The story was okay. The knights are my favorite characters because they are funny. I like when they say, “My tummy hurteth.” (How come only the princess and the giant talk normally?) I felt like the knights came around to the giant a little bit too quickly. Jacqueline is pretty brave, but climbing a beanstalk could be dangerous. This book might help kids with their fears.
