Jackie and the Mona Lisa is a wonderful reflection on Jackie Kennedy who was the first lady of the United States and one of America’s most treasured people to ever occupy the White House. The book’s illustrations are pretty beautiful. The book tells the story of when Jackie arranged for the famous painting to be in the White House for a few months. Most kids today probably don’t know that it was ever there, and maybe adults don’t realize what a feat it was to get it there. The book tells Jackie’s struggle to make this happen so that Americans could experience this special painting in person. It is amazing how many visitors the Mona Lisa attracted and how persistent Jackie was in making everything happen. Everyone should read this book as it’s an important part of history.
