It’s Christmas!

It’s Christmas! is a funny picture book that tells the story of Otto, a little rhinoceros who wants his family’s Christmas celebration to be really Christmas-y. After his parents bake cookies or decorate the Christmas tree, Otto helps by adding more icing and sprinkles to the cookies and more decorations to the tree (even the old ones his mother didn’t like). This gets Otto in trouble with his parents, but the worst thing that happens is when Otto mixes up the labels on the packages under the tree. On Christmas morning, everyone opens the wrong gift, but some mistakes have happy endings.

This is a very cute book. The characters are all rhinoceroses. The illustrations look hand-painted, with bright, cheery colors. Otto’s parents are very nice, and they don’t even get mad at him for making a big mess. Anyone who has ever had a hard time waiting for Santa will understand how Otto feels. This book is fun to read, and kids who are not reading yet will enjoy having someone read it to them. This book made my sister and me smile and plan our own Christmas-y Christmas!
